Friday Harbor Washington

View Property

Suggested Opening Bid $600,000

Original Price $800,000

Island living at its best. It is a three bedroom, two bath home with tile and wood floors, wood burning fireplace and large double car garage with shop space. 4 years old. It has energy efficient construction with radiant floor heating, Hardy panel siding and metal roof. It is south facing for lots of solar gain. It is on a one acre lot located at Cattle Point on San Juan Island. No further development is allowed in this area.

Fabulous water views from the Northeast to the Southwest including the Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges plus Mt Baker and on a clear day Mount Rainier. American Camp National Park and associated hiking trails are within 100 yards of your back door. In fact you have to drive through the park to get to your property.

See Orca whales pass by. Bald eagles, deer, and red foxes are frequently seen. Public salt water beaches within minutes walking distance to the North, East and South.

Island access is by personal boat, airplane and state operated auto ferry system. It has been called by some as “Nantucket West”.

Nearby town of Friday Harbor has all the amenities necessary for living on the island. It is a convenient drive to cosmopolitan areas of Seattle, Washington, Victoria, and Vancouver, Canada.

The island offers other interests such as a live community theater all year as well as outdoor Shakespeare performances in the summer and a county fair. There is ample opportunity to fish for salmon and bottom fish as as well as crabbing. The islands are a mecca for boaters and kayakers. Bicycling is popular and of course we have a great golf course. Friday Harbor has most of the necessities of life such as movie theater, grocery stores, drug store, hardware and lumber, medical/dental and legal support, restaurants and etc.

The house is four years old. There can be no further subdivision or development in this area as we are surrounded by American National Park and public beaches on three sides, part of which is our community beach. Water is supplied by a reverse osmosis desalination plant so there are no water supply or quality problems like on the rest of the island.

The weather here is generally sunny as we are on the lee side of the Olympic Mountains which catches most of the rain before it reaches us. Rain fall is around 19 inches per year as opposed to 40+ inches per year in the surrounding areas. The islands have been known by airline pilots flying over. I have stepped out of my house into bright sunshine to look around and see nothing but dark clouds and rain in the distance on a radius of 20-30 miles.
